Jay Diers: Raw Youth

Whoever thinks of Iowa and its stretching maize fields, dairy cows and the inventor of the tractor, is absolutely right but all that aside, the Midwest of the United States has a lot more to offer and is well substantiated by the young photographer Jay Diers: The boys from the American countryside as innocent and untouched, yet with great finesse the photographer achieves highly erotic portraits: full of awakening sexual curiosity and shying pride, the boys present themselves with astonishing naturalness which brings the charm of times gone by to life again. An eighty page declaration of love dedicated to the era of sexual freedom and the redefining of masculinity.

Jay Diers was born in the Midwest of the USA and has worked over the past 13 years as a freelance photographer and graphic artist. His pictures of raw beauty enhance the pages of many magazines, amongst others Blue.

Jay loves to portray the tall strapping boys of Iowa. His portfolio is to be found under

Howard Roffman: Loving Brian

In his photographic work, which exclusively shows representations of couples, Howard Roffmann has adopted a simple rule: Never put two strangers together and get a nice, but ultimately superficial picture. All the protagonists of his work which meanwhile fills more than a dozen photo books are linked by a deep emotional bond, thus helping to achieve an arcane and intimate effect by which Roffmann’s pictures stand out.

With his new photo book Roffmann carries on his artistic concept and approaches with his keen sense of intimacy the irresistibly cute and boyish Brian, already familiar to those who know Roffmann’s The Perfect Body. In contrast to Roffmann’s other stories of couples, the case is as follows: When Roffman first met Brian at the age of eighteen he had just left his mormon parents’ house and was about to make his first steps into the still unknown world of eroticism. Howard Roffmann has put on record Brians awaking sexuality by means of pictures which are more than just a series of fair nude photographs.

Roffmann has always stressed that a good photograph does not gain authenticity by the commitment of the photographer alone, but also by that of the portrayed. Only when both confide in each other pictures can emerge as those which Howard Roffmann achieved in his sessions with Brian. The ambiguity of the title makes it clear: This picture book is not exclusively about the discovery of the body as it is celebrated by Brian and his friends. It is also about a special aesthetic and human relationship between the photographer and his counterpart, thus ultimately dealing with a deeper dimension, the illustration of which Roffmann achieves in an irresistable and subtle manner.

Bel Ami
Sweetheart

Josh Elliot is one of the great stars of the Bel Ami directorship. The latest picture book edition “Sweetheart” is dedicated to him; Josh does the title great honour: sugar sweet and simply adorable, the young star presents himself in glamorous shots; his natural radiance and sex-appeal make this book entirely unique. The blond headed shows himself as he is, totally devoid of the allures of stardom. The Mediterranean flair communicates a paradisiacal feeling of warmth and dreaminess; the remarkable settings allow the onlooker to dive into a sea of sensuality. Josh Elliot shows his
remarkable and daunting boyish body in emotional solo shots and in gentle loving trust with his friends, all of whom are every bit as erotic. The warm colours and the recognisable ingenious staging of the Bel Ami allow the onlooker to melt away. This 112 paged large format photo edition will no doubt be found amongst the most successful books of the Bel Ami photo edition. A book as beautiful as holidays!
The photographer and director George Duroy is one of the great and long established names in the gay film business. Already in 1996 the first photo edition with the title “Intimate Friends” was released and successfully followed by countless others. The name Bel Ami has long since become a gay legend.

Lalli X: Sexbomb!

Nothing in Lalli X´s photography hinders the view of his New York boys’ tough lives: a beer bottle in hand, cigarette on their lips, rarely a smile, these black and white photos have great allure and eroticism. The last remains of youthful innocence flash in these boys’ eyes. Usually alone, they still have certain defiance and a lust
for life. And amid the apparent tedium of everyday life they all long for real affection. The photographer, author and filmmaker Lalli X lives and works in New York and Tucson, Arizona. He is also working on his first novel
and planning another book of photos.

In this book he shows the boys as objects of young, masculine

fantasy. They offer themselves to the camera lens in occasionally coarse-grained
photos. Sexy and corrupted, cool and relentlessly open, they seem
to live only for the moment when the camera shoots. Elegant,
classic and upfront photos direct from New York’s underside.
Unadorned, uncensored, irresistible!

Chi Chi LaRue - WARNING

I’d describe the pictures in this book as fashion photographs, only without all the clothing and accessories. And unlike most fashion models, these models really have NO inhibitions whatsoever, which is what makes them so much fun to shoot. But the men in this book are more than just models – they are also celebrities in their own right, with adoring fans who obsess over them like any other mainstream movie star, and they deserve to be photographed and recognised as such. My goal when I shoot is to get each of them to break away from the standard hard poses seen in typical porn glamour shots, and to get them involved and collaborate in the creative process. That’s when their star qualities really shine through, and that’s what I strive to capture on film. (from the introduction by Greg Thompson)

ARI GOLD

Global Recording Artist Ari Gold is a native New Yorker born and raised into a Jewish family in the Bronx. As a singer, songwriter and producer who openly discloses his gay identity in this rather homophobic and rough and ready environment he nonetheless made his mark, letting the media prick up their ears with his mixture of R&B, Hip-Hop and Soul. His music has received critical acclaim and multiple awards for being the first in its genre to explicitly explore gay themes. And as if that wouldn’t be enough, the guy looks damn hot, making photographers such as Aaron Cobbett, John Falocco and James Houston eager to use Ari as their subject. Even Boy George, Rupaul and the successful comic-strip artist Joe Phillips cue up to put this new talent into perspective. Already now, many are convinced that Ari Gold is fast on his way to becoming a new icon of gay pop.

Bruno Gmünder Publishing is proud to present this photo book together with an audio-cd of remixes which was specifically produced for the occasion…..
